Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming Team Rynkeby’s Midt-West team. Paid us a visit to show off their beautiful clothes where our logo has found it´s way to the right thigh. 12 bicycle riders came by and thought the deposit was good enough to handle the final part of today’s stage.
The team was characterized by high spirits and great gratitude to all of their sponsors, which allows them to raise even more money for cancer-affected children.
We wish the whole Team Rynkeby a good trip to Paris.

We have started the production with new potatoes from Germany. The first trucks were ready to unload Sunday morning. After a less busy period in the production, the new potatoes have started some activity. At the same time there will be some production from the old crop from 2016 harvest in the next week as well.
Last Wednesday we planted our variety trial. Again this year, Henrik Jakobsen has laid the ground and machines for the trial. Now we would like some warmer and more dry weather, so the potatoes can get a good start
In order to minimize the water consumption in our production, we have now invested in an upgrade of our water treatment plant.
Since we invested in the water treatment plant in 2012, the plant has not contributed as much to the saving of water as we hoped for. Besides that it has also been difficult to adjust the plant so it could run without problems. Therefore the board decided to invest in an upgrade of the plant.
One part of the upgrade consists of automatization done by flowmeters and turbidity measurements. The other part consists of a belt filter press with buffer tanks and pumps in order to dewater the sludge.
The upgrade has been delivered and installed by WAM Watertech.
Our production responsible Ingus have looked forward to having a well-functioning water treatment plant. Now we can just hope it will live up to our expectations.

Again this year we had decided to have a display at Vingsted Hotel og Konference center under Danske Kartofler´s event, called The big potatoday. Like the other years, it was Jannie and Jesper you could meet and have a chat with while they served some crunchy crisps from our customers. The picture below shows Jannie who was allowed to make a quick presentation of our company.
Management Specialist Jan Thaarup Sjøstrand got most of the participants to listen carefully last Friday when we held the first growers meeting of the year.
Entitled “Your farm – Your responsibility” everybody listened intently to Jan´s talk about how they will help themselves to set the agenda on their own farm or businesses.
Everyone should make sure to clarify their mission, make it clear to their employees what they want and which way to go, to get there.
Business leaders must take the lead and be positive thinking, which are pleasant to be with and in this way create the culture they want.
The culture that it takes to get where you want to be.
Previously Erik Thorsen presented the company for the growers. Reviewed the whole concept of Thorsens Chipskartofler A/S, to give the growers the same presentation of the company, as our customers usually encounter on their visit.
The presentation aroused great enthusiasm by the growers who now better know the company they own.
Torben Nielsen presented some calculations regarding the economy in crisping potatoes. Costings showed how it is possible to optimize the level of expenses in the cultivation.
The presentation gave everyone something to think about and hopefully it can contribute to the improvement of the growers economy.
Thorsens Chipskartofler A/S is proud that our collaborator Fredsø Vognmandsforretning has won yet another award, Last they got an award was in 2014 when they were elected as the transport company of the year.
The 50 trucks at Fredsø Vognmandsforretning has slowed down the speed- for the benefit of both the environment and business. The lower speed have led to less brakings, fewer stops and less consumption of fuel while they have maintained the same average speed.
The impressive results are the basis for the environmentally friendly hauler from Nykøbing wins DI’s Initiative award 2016, which was presented Wednesday by HRH Prince Joachim on Danish Industry’s annual conference for small and mediumsized companies.

We’ve got our weighbridge certified to 70 ton.
It is impressive to see when they work with the certification of the weight.
The weights on the image each weigh 1 ton and they have weights that is weighing down to 500 grams, so it’s really margins that come into play.
Keeping up with the traditions, we had a Christmas party for all employees where we drink mulled wine and eat some æbleskiver. It is a good way to end the year and to wish our colleagues a merry christmas.
Here at last, all of us in Thorsens Chipskartofler A/S will say thank you for your cooperation in 2016 and wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
