Management Specialist Jan Thaarup Sjøstrand got most of the participants to listen carefully last Friday when we held the first growers meeting of the year.
Entitled “Your farm – Your responsibility” everybody listened intently to Jan´s talk about how they will help themselves to set the agenda on their own farm or businesses.
Everyone should make sure to clarify their mission, make it clear to their employees what they want and which way to go, to get there.
Business leaders must take the lead and be positive thinking, which are pleasant to be with and in this way create the culture they want.
The culture that it takes to get where you want to be.
Previously Erik Thorsen presented the company for the growers. Reviewed the whole concept of Thorsens Chipskartofler A/S, to give the growers the same presentation of the company, as our customers usually encounter on their visit.
The presentation aroused great enthusiasm by the growers who now better know the company they own.
Torben Nielsen presented some calculations regarding the economy in crisping potatoes. Costings showed how it is possible to optimize the level of expenses in the cultivation.
The presentation gave everyone something to think about and hopefully it can contribute to the improvement of the growers economy.
Thorsens Chipskartofler A/S is proud that our collaborator Fredsø Vognmandsforretning has won yet another award, Last they got an award was in 2014 when they were elected as the transport company of the year.

It is impressive to see when they work with the certification of the weight.
The weights on the image each weigh 1 ton and they have weights that is weighing down to 500 grams, so it’s really margins that come into play.
Keeping up with the traditions, we had a Christmas party for all employees where we drink mulled wine and eat some æbleskiver. It is a good way to end the year and to wish our colleagues a merry christmas.

Thorsens Chipskartofler A/S has donated a sponsorship with the charity cycling team Team Rynkeby. Every year Team Rynkeby cycles to Paris for the benefit of children with cancer and their families.
When the Nordic region’s largest charity cycling team, Team Rynkeby, cycles to Paris for the summer to support the fight against childhood cancer, is it with the help from Thorsens Chipskartofler A/S. The goldsponsorship we have donated, will go directly to the Children’s Cancer Foundation’s work
100 percent to children with cancer
This is the 15th time that Team Rynkeby cycles to Paris to raise money for children with cancer and their families. The team this year consists of 1,600 cyclists and 400 helpers spread over 38 teams in five countries; Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and the Faroe Islands.
Besides the participants of Team Rynkeby have to care for their training for the big bike ride to Paris, they also raise money for children with cancer. Participants cover their own costs, and Rynkeby Foods covers the project’s central costs, which means that all the money that participants gather, will go to one of the five pediatric cancer organizations Team Rynkeby have in the Nordic region.
– The majority of the money is used to fund research into childhood cancer. Childhood cancer remains the disease that takes the lives of most children aged 1-15 years, and there are still too many children who have serious side effects of the treatment they receive, says Carl Erik Dalbøge.
In 2016 Team Rynkeby raised 65.8 million. DKK to the fight against childhood cancer in Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway and the Faroe Islands – from which 43 million. DKK went directly to the Child Cancer Foundation in Denmark.
15 Swedish potato growers had yesterday made their way to Sunds.
They participated in a workshop about storing potatoes. How does antisprouting affect the potatoes? Temperature variations, fluctuations in the sugar contents and in the whole structure of our storehouses and different storing methods. Many different ideas about storing was discussed.
All in all a hopefully instructive day, both for the growers, but certainly also for our company.
TV MIDTVEST was here to make recordings for the program Permanent job. They followed the employees and truckdrivers in their work during the day. The broadcast of our company was sent Friday. November 18.

Wednesday to Friday in week 45 Erik, Jannie and Torben were in Holland for the annual variety exhibition. This is the time of the year when all people in the potato industry are gathered in the area around Emmeloord. Variety owners and breeders open their doors and invite people in. Those who do not live in this area around Emmeloord travel and set up an exhibition to show their particular varieties.
Our agenda was mainly to visit the variety owners that we feel does the most in the crisps segment. We also looked at new upcoming varieties to our trial next year. We found a few varieties that we hope can be an option for future breeding.
TV MIDTVEST paid a visit to shoot footage for a program called permanent job. The program shows the company like it is, with focus on all processes and employees, therefore we are very excited to see what the program will show.
