Seed potatoes

Since we demand potato growers to use new certified seeding every year, we receive the best possible seed potato quality.

Seed potatoes

At Thorsens Chipskartofler A/S, we have for many years had our own seed potato growers of chip varieties attached to which we place significantly higher demands than normal seed potato production. Since we require the chip growers to use new certified seed every year, this requires the best possible seed potato quality. However, a dispensation can be granted for in-house production of Farm Saved Seed under very special controlled forms with regard to cultivation, quality and storage.

Thorsens Chipskartofler A/S has the Danish and Swedish representation of Meijer’s chip varieties, including Lady Rosetta, Lady Claire, Lady Alicia and Lady Britta, all of which are good varieties for industry and chip production.

Lady Rosetta develops early high dry matter and low sugar, this makes Lady Rosetta ideal from early season until August. Lady Rosetta is red-skinned with bright yellow flesh, round nice tubers and a good yield.

Lady Britta has an outstanding color during the breeding season and a good shelf life. The color can become a challenge during storage. The variety is yellow in the skin with nice oval tubers and a good yield, at the same time it stands out with very low deficiency percentages.

Lady Claire is an ideal storage potato with a really good chip color throughout the storage period. Lady Claire is yellow in the skin with bright yellow flesh and with nice oval tubers.

Lady Alicia is a new variety with a relatively high yield and high dry matter. The variety is yellow skinned with light yellow flesh colour.

In addition to these varieties, Thorsens Chipskartofler A/S also sells several other varieties for various branches of production.

Thorsens Chipskartofler A/S also represents the Kiebitz chip variety in Scandinavia. Kiebitz is a variety of chips from Norex-Norika, which is very shelf-stable and of good quality. Kiebitz has round, neat tubers, light flesh, high dry matter and an even yield, at the same time it is distinguished by a very nice chip color throughout the season.

Thorsens Chipskartofler A/S represent the Favola chip variety throughout Scandinavia. The variety is from Europlant/Karmark. Favola is a new variety that is still being tested. It stands out in particular with a very low sugar level throughout the storage period and thus a very nice chip colour.
