Thorsens Chipskartofler A/S requires that their farmers only use chemicals that are allowed to use in Denmark and the amount used must be restricted without the quality being impaired.

We pay an extra amount for potatoes where mechanical or thermal top-killing has been used without the use of chemicals. The farmers must work with the best possible agricultural practice; meaning the best possible harmony between fertilizer application and yields.

Farmers that have a GlobalGAP certificate also get a higher price for their potatoes.

Thorsens Chipskartofler A/S has modern storage facilities that are designed, to have the lowest possible consumption of electricity, since the system uses the potatoes own natural type of ventilation. The stores are some of the long-term storage facilities in Europe that have the lowest consumption of electricity, hence also the lowest CO2 emission.

Our waste products are recycled in the environment under controlled conditions. After testing in a laboratory the water from washing as well as the waste soil is recycled in the forest and on agricultural land. Random samples of the potatoes are continuously taken to test if there are any residues from pesticides.
